Knitting
Choose from several projects suitable for beginning knitters, as well as those who have
already learned knitting basics. Projects include: ipod/cell phone case, classic or slouch beanie, “snow
boarder” hat, scarf, fingerless gloves and much more! Learning to knit encourages math and literacy, as well
as fine motor skills! You may recognize teacher, Ms. Amy Hale
from her work as Director of Education at the Children’s Museum and Laurelhurst’s Family Science Nights. Amy
also teachesfelting, knitting and science workshops for both school-age and adult
students.

Art Club
LASER hosts Art Wizards, an art class for grades 1st-5th that
shows students
the best ways to use chalk and oil pastel, watercolor, colored pencils and markers. Wonderful art will be brought home for everyone to enjoy. Please contact Ilene Lynch prior to
registration to make sure this is suitable for your child.

Languages
LASER hosts before school language classes in Spanish, French,
Italian, Chinese. The instructors use a variety
ofenjoyable activities such as games,
songs and stories to teach vocabulary. These classes areavailable to students in grades K-5 at both beginner and
intermediate levels. K-5th Grades
Chess
Club
Beginning, intermediate, and advanced classes are hosted after school by
LASER with instructiondone by
Chess4Life.
These classes are available for students in grades K-5th. The school year willconsist of learning the strategies behind the game of chess and
working toward competing in local
chess tournaments, but most of all its about having fun.

Club
LASER hosts after
school theater performance classes with instruction done by Stone Soup
Theatre. Classes will
be available for two different age groups, K-2nd and 3rd-5th grades. The classes will culminate in a performance offered to parents, friends, and other family
members at the end of each session.

Laurelhurst Children's
Choir
Choir is offered to
1st-5th graders after school from our choir
teacher, Jennifer
Greene. Jennifer has worked
with the Seattle Girls’ Choir, the Tahoma Schools in Maple
Valley
, and Studio East youth
theatre in Kirkland
, as well as with children’s
choirs and ensembles in the southeast US. All students who like to sing are encouraged to sign up. Our focus
is on having fun as we explore and enjoy music from many cultural
traditions. Class

Lego Camp
LASER hosts Bricks 4 Kidz LEGO® class. Classes will be available
for two different age groups, K-2nd and 3rd-5th grades. This is a
hands-on class where students will design and build machines, catapults, pyramids, derby cars, buildings and
other constructions out of LEGO® bricks. While exploring engineering, architecture and physics, students will
develop problem solving and critical thinking skills. Class Minimum: 6

Laurelhurst Children's String
Ensemble
Bradley Smith will lead an ensemble of string instrument players in grades 1st to
5th. For the past 11 years, Mr. Smith has been the orchestra teacher at
Eckstein Middle School, which has been the top orchestra program in the Pacific Northwest for the past five

LASER hosts Music Lessons On
Wheels for students K-5th. Enjoy piano lessons and
musicinstruction in Laurelhurst
Elementary at a fraction of the cost for private lessons. Parents,friends, and other family members can enjoy an end of session
