Welcome to our Rising Stars Pre-K at
LASER!!
The Rising Stars Pre-K at LASER program is for children who are four
and five years old who will be entering Kindergarten the following year. Classes will be offered 5 days a
week, Monday through Friday from 9:10am-1:10pm (start
time coinciding with Laurelhurst Elementary start time). The
class is limited to 16 children. We will provide a 1:8 teacher/child ratio.
Rising Stars Pre-K at LASER provies a highly nurturing
learning environment in which children develop academic, social and emotional readiness for
Kindergarten. Our activities are planned each week and will introduce language arts, pre-literacy and
math concepts, and science and geography in a fun learning environment. Our program has a diversified
curriculum that also incorportates creative movement and language instruction during the school
year. We also will have field trips into the community.

Rising Stars Pre-K at LASER is a great place for 4 and 5 year olds to
spend a wonderful, adventurous and magical year learning and playing with their
peers!
Pre-K Lead Teacher
Katie
Yang
Hi, my
name is Katie Yang and I am thrilled to be joining the L.A.S.E.R. team as the Lead Pre-K
Teacher! I obtained my Master’s degree in Education last year and
completed my student teaching in Kindergarten. Most recently I have
worked as a social worker for Children’s Services and although I found a lot of satisfaction in my work, I
really love teaching. One of the things I love to do in my off time is
spending time outdoors with my husband. We enjoy going on walks, hikes,
and bike rides in and around Seattle.
Pre-K Assistant
Teacher
Rachel Clark
My name is Rachel Clark and I am
excited to be working with Mrs. Yang and all the wonderful Rising Stars in the Pre-K classroom! I spent
the last 4 years running the afterschool and summer programs at the Center for Human Service in
Shoreline, and I am also an Apprentice Teaching Artist with the Seattle Children's Theater. I love using
my imagination to travel to new places, create fun art projects, and do dramatic movement. I am also
interested in learning about different languages and cultures, and I spent 2 years as a Peace Corps
volunteer in Senegal, West Africa. I look forward to lots of adventures with the Rising Stars this
year!
